Only Electrical Contractors licensed by Electrical Contractor Registration Agency are permitted to do electrical work anywhere in Ontario. It is illegal to operate electrical business without obtaining electrical contractor’s license.

It takes a long time to become Electrical Contractor. It requires years to fulfill an apprenticeship while attending college, learning the electrical codes and gaining experience on the job, before taking their final exam. Even then they are not permitted to work for the public as an Electrical Contractor until they obtain their Master Electrician license and then, their Electrical Contractor’s license.
